Last week, Vertov’s creative director Martijn visited the digital conference NEXT Berlin and explored the local start up scene. Based on several talks on stage and inspiring conversations behind the scenes, he wrote an article for the Dutch platform Frankwatching summarising ten helpful tips for a successful start up from the pros.

Vertov is showcased as an example of the new trend for established agencies (like Coebergh) to create specific ‘labels’ for digital campaigns and creative content.     Since our creative director Martijn Winkler is an active board member for the Dutch Directors Guild - the network for professional film and television directors in the Netherlands -, he participated in an extensive protest of the audiovisual industry on December 17. The protests were aimed against the Governments’ proposed removal of the Mediafonds, which finances most Dutch documentaries, films and e-culture.

    Martijn was media spokesperson for the protest, which featured more than 200 of the best filmmakers of the Netherlands (including Oscar-winning directors), and explained the protesters’ point of view to an array of key media, including news broadcasts of the major channels. This was certainly storytelling on another level!
